A welcoming exhibition space celebrating original works by Jemma and a community of invited artists โ where art is not separate from life, but woven through it.
Jemma's Gallery occupies the ground floor of House 3 โ the social and creative heart of Smith Island Sanctuary. It is not a white-cube gallery at a remove from everyday life. It is a space you wander through on your way to a coffee, a conversation, or a quiet moment in the garden.
The gallery operates on a Jemma + Friends model: Jemma anchors each exhibition as the resident artist, and invited local and regional artists bring their own voices into the mix. Exhibitions rotate every six to eight weeks, and each opening is a genuine community event โ part art show, part island gathering, part celebration of what it means to create.
Works range from original paintings and drawings to prints, art cards, and limited editions available at more accessible price points. Commission work is welcomed.
Paintings, drawings, and mixed media by Jemma and exhibiting artists. Works rotate with each exhibition. Consignment model โ 65% to the artist, 35% to the gallery.
High-quality prints and art cards at accessible price points. Perfect for gifting or as a lasting memory of your island stay.
Jemma and gallery artists accept commission requests. A bespoke piece created specifically for you, your space, or your story.
Each new exhibition opens with a community gathering โ art, conversation, island hospitality, and often the Cafe contributing to the evening. Free to attend.
Collaborative works born from the Sanctuary community โ seasonal installations, limited edition prints, and pieces that respond to the island, the land, and our shared journey.
A festive gathering with prints, cards, gifts, and handmade items from the wider Sanctuary community. A wonderful reason to visit at any time of year.
New works, new conversations, and the particular pleasure of experiencing art in an island setting. Community welcome. No ticket required for openings.
An informal conversation with the exhibiting artist or artists โ about the work, the process, the questions that led to it. Enriching for any visitor.
Four times a year, the gallery hosts an intimate dinner-with-art experience โ exceptional food from the Cafe, unhurried time with the works, and conversations that tend to run long.
Prints, cards, gifts, handmade items, and a festive community spirit. A great opportunity to bring something home from the island that carries real meaning.
